Judie Lopes nominated for Beko & Woman’s Way Mum of the Year Award
Padraig Conlon 09 Oct 2026
Crumlin mum Judie Lopes has been nominated for the 2026 Beko & Woman’s Way Mum of the Year Award, becoming the tenth and final nominee in this year’s prestigious awards.
Married to Carlos in 1988, the couple have three children – Christover, Jacques and Roberto (Pico).

The family was thrust into the spotlight when Ireland adopted her husband’s home nation of Cape Verde and her son, Roberto ‘Pico’ Lopes, who proudly represented that country at this year’s World Cup.
With Ireland absent from the tournament, the country firmly got behind Pico and Cape Verde.
Incredible memories were made during the Summer and looking back now she can hardly believe it.
“One day was better than the next, I suppose the highlight was seeing your son taking to the world stage of football and performing as well as he did, along with his teammates.
“They all put in such magnificent performances. It was amazing and I’m so proud.”

Judie’s pride in what Pico has achieved is matched only by her pride in the rest of her family, particularly Christover and Jacques.
Working as a school secretary in Loreto Junior Primary School in Crumlin, she loves her role and working with young children, “It’s a fabulous place to work.
The children come in here at age four and they stay for four years. They’re just wonderful and the staff are great as well.”
A family person through and through, she is kept busy with her grandchildren and the family has very exciting plans to visit Cape Verde next summer for a very special family occasion when her husband’s father will turn 100.
Speaking about the nomination in the latest edition of Woman’s Way Magazine, Judie added, “For me, the best thing about being a mum is raising three very decent human beings and seeing them develop into the fine young men they are.
“They are my pride and joy, and I hope they will continue to grow and achieve all that they desire in the future too.” The full interview is available to read in the magazine, on shelves now.
The Beko Woman’s Way Mum of the Year Awards are back in 2026 for an incredible 23rd year with Beko proudly supporting the awards for more than a decade.
The Awards celebrate Ireland’s amazing mothers and shine a light on women who quietly and consistently make life better, for their families, society and everyone around them.
Open to mums throughout Ireland, the accolade gives spouses, children, relatives, friends and community groups the opportunity to recognise and reward the fantastic work mums do for their families and friends.
A landmark event in the social calendar, the awards celebrate the strength, dedication and community contribution of mothers in Ireland.
Finalists will be treated to a fabulous afternoon at a special awards ceremony later in the year where the prestigious title as Beko & Woman’s Way Mum of the Year Award will be awarded.
Celebrity Mum of the Year and a Special Recognition Award will also be honoured at the event. Each finalist will receive a top-of-the-range CaffeExperto bean-to-cup coffee machine while the winner will receive a €2,500 voucher to spend on Beko appliances.
