Independent Senator Aubrey McCarthy has formally written to the Lord Mayor of Dublin City Council requesting that a street in the capital be named in honour of the late Brother Kevin Crowley OFM Cap., founder of the Capuchin Day Centre for Homeless People.
Brother Kevin, who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 90, dedicated over five decades to serving Dublin’s most vulnerable. In 1969, he founded the Capuchin Day Centre on Bow Street, which today provides over 1,000 hot meals and food parcels daily to those experiencing homelessness and poverty.
“Brother Kevin was a beacon of compassion, dignity, and service in our city,” said Senator McCarthy.
“His legacy is etched into the lives of thousands of people he helped quietly, humbly, and without judgment. Naming a street after him would be a fitting and permanent tribute to a man who gave so much to Dublin,” he said.
