Air traffic control issues in the UK are resulting in delays and possible cancellations for some flights into and out of Dublin Airport today.

“We advise all passengers due to travel today to check the status of their flight with their airline in advance of travelling,” said Dublin Airport in a statement, with Cork Airport also reporting similar issues.

Dublin Airport advised passengers to check with their individual airlines regarding specific flights.

Sky News reports that air traffic control systems across the UK have suffered a technical fault, which is leading to cancellations and delays across UK airspace, which could affect UK flights in and out of Ireland.

NATS, the national air traffic controllers in the UK, said in a statement “we are currently experiencing a technical issue and have applied traffic flow restrictions to maintain safety. Engineers are working to find and fix the fault.”

it did not give an estimate of how long it would take to fix the problem, or what had caused the issue.

European air traffic authority Eurocontrol warned of “very high” delays because of a “flight data processing system failure” in the UK.
