Sinn Féin’s Dublin City Councillors are urging fellow representatives to support a motion calling on the Government to reinstate the ban on evictions.

Dublin City Council will hold a statutory special meeting tomorrow this evening to debate the motion demanding that the Government reintroduces the ban.

Councillor Daithí Doolan, Sinn Féin’s Dublin spokesperson on housing, said: “Dublin City Council will hold a special meeting tomorrow to debate a Sinn Féin motion demanding that the Government reinstates the eviction ban.

“Our city faces a tsunami of evictions.

“It is hugely important that Dublin City Council stands up for people facing a future of uncertainty and homelessness.

“The decision to reverse the ban on evictions by this Government is a cold and calculated attack on some of the most vulnerable people in society.

“I would appeal to fellow councillors of all parties to take the opportunity tomorrow night to join together in one strong Dublin voice demanding the Government reinstate the ban on evictions.

“We might disagree on other issues, but tomorrow night is about uniting to stop the rising tide of homeless. I urge city councillors to support the motion.”
