Dublin business group says St Patrick’s Day visitor numbers will rival 2019

Businesses in Dublin City Centre are preparing for a return to normality for this year’s St Patrick’s Day festival as early indications suggest that visitor numbers will rival 2019 figures.

According to DublinTown, the representative body for businesses in Dublin’s Business Improvement District, many hotels are fully booked and Dublin Airport is expecting 77,000 passengers per day this week.

Commenting on this, DublinTown Chief Executive, Richard Guiney, said: ‘’Businesses in Dublin are getting ready for a St Patrick’s Day week that will come close to pre-pandemic levels in terms of footfall, visitor numbers and spending in the city.

“Dublin airport will be extremely busy, with 77,000 people expected to go through the airport each day and hotel occupancy is very high.

“It’s going to be a fantastic week for visitors and business in the city. The St Patrick’s Festival is always a hugely important week for the city’s businesses and it’s great that we now have a chance to celebrate it properly.’’

Guiney says DublinTown has been working in coordination with Dublin City Council and An Garda Síochána to make sure the week goes “smoothly”.
