Christmas finally arrives!

OVER 100 members of Friends of the Elderly gathered at The Bonnington Hotel in Whitehall in late January to celebrate the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions – and unite after many months apart.

The event was the (many times) postponed Christmas party organised by Friends of the Elderly.

For many, it was also the first time they had socialised since the pandemic began.

“The party held at the Bonnington was so much more than a rescheduled Christmas party, it was a party to showcase that brighter days have arrived,” said Deborah Costello, the fundraising and communications manager for the charity.

“Life is for living again and it is time to leave the fear of the last two years behind,” she said.

The party-goers sang, danced, ate and drank at the bash that many said was well overdue.

“Friends of the Elderly will continue to support our members to help them embrace life again and have returned to our full schedule of activities,” Costello said.

“We are looking forward to 2022 and hope it is a year filled with fun, laughter and friendship.”
