Gardaí appeal for information following fatal Ballyfermot shooting

Gardaí are appealing for information following a fatal shooting incident on Sunday morning at a residence in the Thomond Road area of Ballyfermot.

A man, aged in his late 40s, was discovered having received a number of gunshot wounds and he was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

The man’s body wass removed to the City Morgue, Whitehall where a post-mortem was conducted in the afternoon by State Pathologist Margot Bolster.

The scene in Ballyfermot remains preserved as the Garda Technical Bureau carries out its examination.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information or road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) in relation to this incident to come forward.

In particular, anyone who may have been in the Thomond Road, Landen Road, Kylemore Road or the general Decies area between 3.30am – 5.30am this morning, Sunday 9th January 2021.
