Alternative plan for Moore Street to go on public display on Thursday

An alternative plan for the redevelopment of Moore Street will go on public display for the first time on Thursday 7 October at 11am in the Pearse Centre.

The plans are being presented by the Moore Street Preservation Trust and the 1916 Relatives Alliance who say the current proposal, which is being progressed by property development firm Hammerson, is not appropriate for the area.

James Connolly Heron, leading Moore Street campaigner and great-grandson of 1916 leader James Connolly, is calling on Minister for Heritage Darragh O’Brien and Dublin City Council planners to endorse the scheme.

“The Minister and Dublin City Council planners must heed the call of the Department which states “the planning authority should consider whether an alternative design of the redevelopment of this site would allow for the retention and sensitive adaptation for reuse of significant existing structures”,” says Heron.

“This is exactly what our plan does.”
