Dun Laoghaire residents may see water supply disruption in coming days

Irish Water is carrying out watermain improvement works along Windsor Terrace in order to “safeguard the water supply to homes and businesses in the area.”

These works involve the replacement of 150 metres of old cast iron watermains with new heavy duty plastic pipes are being delivered by Ward & Burke Construction on behalf of Irish Water.

The works are planned to take place along Windsor Terrace between 9am and 5pm daily, from today, Wednesday 26 May for approximately two weeks.

According to Irish Water, “whilst every effort has been made to minimise the impact of the works, customers on Windsor Terrace may experience intermittent water outages for short periods while the works are ongoing.

“A direct notification will be provided to properties where water outages are expected.

“Traffic management including the temporary closure of the cycle lane will be in place to facilitate the safe delivery of the works, while local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times.

Speaking about the works, Matthew Thomson, Irish Water said: “We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and working in partnership with Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council we will make every effort to minimise any disruption that these necessary works may cause.

“The delivery of these essential works will help to safeguard the water supply to homes and businesses in the area ensuring a safer mores sustainable water supply.”
