Juvenile arrested for serious assault on woman on Wednesday night

Gardaí have arrested a teenager in connection with a serious assault that occurred between Georges Dock and Custom House Quay, IFSC, on Wednesday.

It is understood a woman was walking home from work when she was stabbed in the neck by a male on a bike during an attempted robbery.

The incident occurred at about 9:30pm on the night in question.

Store Street Gardai investigating the assault made the arrest.

“A juvenile has been arrested and is currently detained at Store Street Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984,” a Gardai statement says.

The juvenile can be held for 24 hours without charge.

It is understood the woman, who is in her 40s, is in serious condition in Mater Hospital where she was taken after the assault.

In a statement, they said: “Gardaí are investigating an incident where a woman in her 40s was assaulted on the 20th January 2021 at 9.30pm Clarion Quay, Dublin.

Gardaí are appealing for any persons who may have witnessed the incident or who were in the vicinity between 9.15pm and 10pm on Wednesday night to contact gardaí.
