STARDUST survivor Antoinette Keegan has said she is “more confident than ever” ahead of next year’s inquest into the nightclub fire that claimed the lives of 48 people.

“We have a fantastic solicitor, a brilliant barrister, plus experts from the Hillsborough Disaster campaign,” Antoinette told Northside People.

Antoinette, who lost her sisters Mary and Martina in the fire on Valentine’s Night 1981 which almost claimed her life too, said the announcement about the new inquests left her “elated.”

Sadly, her 84-year-old mother Christine, a long-time campaigner for justice for the Stardust victims, died last month on July 14, just before the announcement of the new inquests.

“When the news of the new inquest came, just three weeks after my Mam passing away, we knew she was up there working hard to get justice for all the victims,” Antoinhette stated.

“She never ever gave up the fight for justice, she was some woman for one woman.

“We all feel that she is going to help us down here, we promised her we wouldn’t let her down.”
