€180,000 of heroin and cocaine seized in Finglas
Dublin People 19 Sep 2024As part of an ongoing investigations into the sale and supply of drugs and related crime in the Dublin Metropolitan Region, Gardaí attached to the DMR West Divisional Drugs Unit conducted an intelligence-led operation on Wednesday, September 18.
During the operation, a search warrant was executed at a residential property in Finglas, Dublin 11. Approximately €71,800 heroin, €22,800 alprazolam and €5,600 cocaine was seized, pending analysis. In follow-up searches, an additional €79,400 alprazolam tablets were additionally seized.
A female in her 30s was arrested at the scene and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. She has since been charged and is expected to appear before Blanchardstown District Court this morning, 19th Septmber 2024.
The seized drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
The investigation is ongoing.
This seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris on 2nd July 2021. The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle, and prosecute drug trafficking networks at all levels—international, national, and local—involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale, and supply of controlled drugs.
