Young man arrested after fatal stabbing in Tallaght

A young man has been arrested after a fatal stabbing in Tallaght on Monday night.

A man in his 40s died following an incident at a house in Castle Park.

Gardaí and the emergency services were called to the area just before 9pm, and discovered a man inside the house with injuries following a stabbing.

Paramedics treated the victim at the scene, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

An adult male was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in the Dublin Region.

RTÉ reports that he knew the victim, and a number of other people were in the house at the time.

The scene has been sealed off and the State Pathologist’s Office has been informed.

Gardaí have begun an investigation and believe the weapon used in the incident remains at the scene.

Detectives state that they are following a definite line of inquiry and are not looking for anyone else at present.
