A post-mortem examination will be carried out today on the body of 52-year-old woman Lisa Thompson, who was found dead at her home at Sandyhill Gardens, Ballymun yesterday.

It is understood that Ms Thompson was stabbed up to 12 times and Gardaí say they have not yet identified a suspect.

The house in which Ms Thompson’s body was found continues to be sealed off by Gardaí for a second day.

Chief State Pathologist Dr Linda Mulligan is due to conduct a post-mortem later today, which should indicate a cause and time of death.

Ms Thompson’s body may have been in her home for some time before she was discovered.

A case conference to collate evidence gathered so far was held at Ballymun Garda Station last night and detectives there have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
