Increase in parking charges in Dublin from 1st February announced
Padraig Conlon 26 Jan 2022At the January 2020 meeting of Dublin City Council it was agreed that a public consultation process would take place in relation to the proposed amendment to the Dublin City Council Parking Control Bye-Laws 2019.
Members of the Public were invited to make submissions in relation to the proposed increase in parking charges.
Having considered these submissions, it was agreed at the Council meeting held on December 6, 2021 that the proposed changes to the parking charges would be introduced from the February 1, 2022.
As a result, the council say there will be an increase to parking charges in all zones across the city by an average of 10%.
A reduced rate will apply to motorists using the Parking Tag App.
Speaking about the increase, Dermot Stevenson, Parking Enforcement Officer, said
“The hourly parking charges are being increased to ensure that there is a suitable deterrent to long stay parking in the city and to encourage a high turnover of users of these parking spaces.
“We also want to encourage sensible parking in the city as well as asking motorists to consider alternative transport methods other than the private car”.
The rate for customers using cash/card and customers using the Parking Tag App are outlined in the table below:
