Dublin City Council has officially opened a new playground at Errigal Park in Drimnagh, marking a significant milestone as the 75th playground managed by the Council’s Parks, Biodiversity and Landscape Services.

The new facility was officially opened by Lord Mayor of Dublin, Daryl Barron, alongside local councillors, community representatives and Dublin City Council officials.

Speaking at the opening, the Lord Mayor of Dublin said:

“The opening of this new playground is a significant milestone for both the local community and Dublin City Council as it becomes the 75th playground in our parks network.

“Quality public spaces like this play an important role in supporting children’s health, wellbeing and development, while also bringing communities together.

“I am delighted to see this investment delivered for the families of Drimnagh and the wider area, and I hope this fantastic new facility will be enjoyed by local residents and visitors alike for many years to come.”

Located close to Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin and several local schools, the playground has been designed to encourage natural, inclusive and imaginative play for children of all ages and abilities.

It provides a safe, accessible and welcoming environment where children can play, learn, socialise and enjoy the outdoors.

The opening also marks the completion of a programme of improvements at Errigal Park that began in 2024 and has transformed the site into an enhanced neighbourhood park with improved recreational amenities for local residents and visitors.
