Water supply returned to customers in South Dublin following overnight repair works

Dublin People 14 Aug 2026

Water supply has returned to Uisce Éireann customers in the South Dublin area following the completion of emergency repairs to a large water main in Rathfarnham last night.

Uisce Éireann crews worked through the night, with water returning to customers in Rathfarnham, Terenure, Milltown, Rathgar, Dartry, Kimmage, Rathmines, Harolds Cross and surrounding areas at approximately 6am.

Uisce Éireann’s Keith Conmy thanked the community for their patience while the emergency repairs were carried out: “I would like to thank customers for their understanding while crews worked overnight to repair the burst water main and restore supply as quickly as possible. We appreciate how disruptive unplanned outages like this can be, and we acknowledge the continued cooperation of the community as the network now returns to normal.”

Typically, it can take three to four hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all properties after an unplanned outage. Customers located at the end of the network or on higher ground may experience longer restoration times as the system recharges.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. To register as a vulnerable customer or as an alternative contact, visit water.ie.
