Commenting on the figures, she said:

“Housing completions in 2025 are up over 20% on 2024. Housing is the number one societal issue of our time, and we in Fianna Fáil will pull every lever at our disposal to unlock the construction of new homes.”

Further data shows that since Fianna Fáil has re-entered Government in 2020; there has been a 150% increase in home completions in Dublin City.

She added: “I am especially delighted to see big increases in homes completions since 2020 in Dublin City compared to the previous five and a half years. This means more of my constituents are becoming homeowners, and we must and will continue to deliver more.”

Ardagh noted that measures introduced in 2025 by Minister for Housing James Browne, including rental reforms, the new Housing Action Plan, and reforms to planning processes and design standards, are helping to build confidence and momentum in the sector.

“The increase in commencements shows confidence is growing within the housing sector. The answer to housing is supply, supply, supply. Everybody has the right to own their own home, and we are committed to clearing any blockages that prevent that.”

Concluding, Deputy Ardagh stated:

“There is no doubt we are now seeing momentum build, but we are under no illusions about the challenges that remain. In Fianna Fáil, we are committed to faster, more efficient homebuilding and to pulling every lever at our disposal to deliver more homes for the people of Ireland.”
