Uisce Éireann advises motorists of road closure at Ferndale Road

Dublin People 21 Oct 2025

Uisce Éireann is planning to carry out repair works to a burst water main on Ferndale Road in Shankill. To facilitate these works, an emergency road closure has been granted by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

The road closure will be in place at Ferndale Road from 9:30am tomorrow, Wednesday, 22 October, for a 500m section between John Scottus secondary school and Old Connaught House. Diversion routes will be clearly signposted during this time, with local and emergency access maintained.

Uisce Éireann anticipates repair works to take a number of hours and will provide an update once works are complete and the road re-opened.

Uisce Éireann do not anticipate any interruptions to water supply as a result of the water main burst or repair works as crews are maintaining supply for customers through manual network adjustments.

Uisce Éireann’s Daniel Kennedy said: “We would like to thank all road users in advance for their patience and cooperation while we carry out these essential repair works. We understand the inconvenience of road closures and associated diversions, and crews will complete works as quickly and safely as possible.”
