Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South West Seán Crowe has welcomed confirmation by the Road Safety Authority that they have found a suitable premises for a new driving test centre in south Dublin and expect it to be operational in the coming weeks.

This comes as the RSA also confirmed that the number of people on the waiting list at the Tallaght driving test centre has exceeded 19,000 people.

Crowe said “I warmly welcome the confirmation I received this week that the Road Safety Authority have found a suitable premises in south Dublin and expect it to be operational in the coming weeks.”

“This is something for which I have been calling for years and could really make a difference to the people of south Dublin.”

“The waiting list figures at the Tallaght driving test centre have exceeded 19,000 now and that is simply unsustainable. With the huge population growth that we have seen in Dublin South West over the past number of years, it was vital that another testing centre be opened.”

“Public transport should always be the first option, but it cannot be the only option. We cannot leave people waiting months and years to sit a driving test and it is my hope that with this new centre opening soon, that those delays will be a thing of the past.”
