Lahart demands “urgent” action after Knocklyon water outage
Dublin People 22 Apr 2025
Dublin South West TD, John Lahart, has today expressed deep concern over the treatment of local residents in Knocklyon by Uisce Éireann/Irish Water, following a prolonged and unacceptable water outage over the weekend.

“This situation is nothing short of scandalous,” Deputy Lahart said. “Some residents have now been without water for over three days, despite repeated assurances and shifting deadlines from Uisce Éireann that repairs would be completed. These promises have been broken, and the failure to restore service is appalling.”
Efforts to get urgent updates from the utility have so far proven frustrating, prompting Deputy Lahart to escalate the matter to Ministerial level earlier today.
“In both service delivery and public communication, Uisce Éireann has fallen far short. The lack of transparency and responsiveness shown to affected residents and their representatives is deeply troubling. Uisce Éireann has a lot of lessons to learn when it comes to dealing with communities like Knocklyon.”
Deputy Lahart said he is continuing to pursue a resolution to the crisis and has vowed to keep pressure on both Uisce Éireann and the relevant Government departments until the issue is resolved
