A husband-and-wife duo from Dublin were left speechless after they collected their cheque for €554,195 in Lottery HQ yesterday afternoon.

The couple, who wish to remain private, successfully matched 5 numbers and the bonus in Saturday’s 27th July Lotto draw. The winning ticket was purchased on Thursday 25th July at The Kokonut, Longmile Rd, Walkinstown, Dublin 12.

The Dublin duo explained the utter shock they felt when they found out the amount they’d won while on the phone to the National Lottery Prize Claims team.

“My husband scanned the ticket in store, and it said to contact National Lottery. We thought maybe we’d won €500 or something so we rang the claims team and Martin told me three times what we’d won, and it wasn’t registering with me at all. He told me to grab a pen and paper and write down the amount which was €554,195. I nearly collapsed”, said the wife.

“I’m a real talker – but this time I was left completely speechless”, chirped the husband.

The couple attended National Lottery HQ with their family where soon the conversation turned to how they might spend their winnings.

“Ah we’ll definitely do a family holiday, somewhere nice and hot. And we might throw youse a few bob each”, laughed the husband.
