Penneys has completed a €2 million renovation of its Dún Laoghaire store.

Originally opened in 1971, the 14,600 sq. ft store located on Dun Laoghaire’s Lower George’s Street now boasts a fresh new look and feel for customers.

Self-checkout tills have been introduced to the store, alongside its traditional tills, making it even easier and quicker for shoppers who are short on time or paying by card to pick up their items.

The major renovation project took three months to complete, with works taking place at night by a team of 15 contractors and suppliers while the store was closed, allowing the store to continue to serve customers during the day.

The revamped store features new branding and signage in line with Primark’s recently refreshed new brand look, new fixtures and fittings across the retail floor and back-of-house, and structural changes between the two buildings that make up the Penneys Dún Laoghaire shop floor, making it easier for customers to move between departments, finding their favourite items.

The store also features new energy efficient LED lighting, helping to reduce energy consumption of lighting in the store by more than half.

Fintan Costello, Head of Penneys Ireland and Northern Ireland, said: This has been a significant renovation project for our store team, and we are delighted with the result – our Dún Laoghaire store looks fantastic and has been given a new lease of life.

“We’ve been getting great feedback so far from our customers who love the new look and feel of the store, with the same great product offering across fashion, essentials, beauty, lifestyle and homeware.

“We are continuing to invest in our Irish store network with further refurbishments planned in the near future.”

This €2 million investment in Dún Laoghaire is part of Primark’s commitment to invest over €250 million* in Ireland by 2031, which includes the development, relocation and/or refurbishment of its stores across the country.
