New library planned for Ballyogan
Dublin People 12 Jan 2024An Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Denis O’Callaghan visited Samuel Beckett Centre in Ballyogan to mark the progress to date on the works for the new library.
The library will be an accessible building on two floors and will be open six days a week, Monday to Saturday, and will be the first public library in the county with a sensory space, a dedicated teen area and a music studio.
Commenting on the work in progress, An Cathaoirleach, Denis O’Callaghan noted “Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is working hard to complete the new library which will offer lots of free space for the local community to use and to enjoy”.
The development of the library is part of Samuel Beckett’s Phase 2A development initiative for the Ballyogan area. Samuel Beckett Phase 2 will include the development of a Sports Campus and swimming pool. Information panels on the new library were unveiled as part of An Cathaoirleach’s visit and can be viewed by everyone in the entrance hall at the Samuel Beckett Centre, Ballyogan.
Chief Executive of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Frank Curran added “Dún Laoghaire County Council is delighted to work on the development of the library and we look forward to providing new services in the Ballyogan area”.
