Children’s House Primary 70th anniversary celebrations
Padraig Conlon 29 Sep 2023ANOTHER exciting week at The Children’s House Primary started with the visit of Neale Richmond to the well-established Montessori school which recently celebrated its 70th anniversary.
Taking place on Monday, September 18, the Stillorgan-based school celebrated its landmark anniversary in fine style.
The Children’s House Primary has been serving the local community and beyond for the last seven decades.
The school is local but also has an international identity with children from 22 countries attending.
Neale Richmond (pictured above), local TD and Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment with special responsibility for Employment Affairs and Retail Business, spoke with the children in a clear and straightforward way about his role in office.
Talking firsthand about traffic lights, pedestrian issues and graffiti concerns, the children were empowered by his attentive ear.
Together they unveiled the plaque to commemorate the time capsule which was buried to celebrate the school’s 70th year.
Established in 1952 by local woman, Veronica Ryan, following the input of Mario Montessori and Ada Montessori who were regular visitors to the school, this wonderful learning establishment (for children aged 3-12) has grown and flourished over the decades with children now transitioning smoothly and seamlessly to the Secondary schools of Dublin and beyond.
As Luke, one of the 6th class children stated:
“The children buried the time capsule and put in things like a note or something more personal – like one child put in a mask – not a Covid mask but a theatre mask.
“Somebody put in currency, some children put in drawings and one teacher put in a mobile phone.
“The people unveiling the plaque today can return in 30 years when it’s unearthed again!”
There will definitely be a great time capsule unearthing in 30 years’ time.
What a great party that will be!
The next event on the busy calendar of The Children’s House Primary is their Open Day on Saturday, October, 14, from 10:00 – 12:00.
See you there or at the time capsule unveiling in decades to come!
