Several homes were evacuated and two fighfighters were injured during a major wildfire in Killiney overnight.

Dublin Fire Brigade say the fire started at around 5.30pm yesterday when smoke wcould be seen coming from a gorse fire on Killiney Hill.

Last night, firefighters fought the blaze with 7 pumps and crews, 2 water tankers and an aerial drone.

The fire came within metres of some homes which led to the evacuation of several houses as a precaution.

There were two areas of operations to protect houses on Glenaula Road and Ballinclea Heights.

All residents are safe.
