Dalkey Lobster Festival returns to the southside town this August!Gary Ibbotson 20 Jul 2022
After a three-year hiatus, the Dalkey Lobster Festival returns to the south Dublin coastal town from Friday, August 26 to Sunday, August 28.
Over the course of the festival weekend, a host of familiar faces will appear on the Main Stage within the Lobster Village – located in The Tramyard – to demo their favourite seafood recipes, share their expertise and have some fun.
Prominent chefs, Derry Clarke, JP McMahon, Mark Moriarty and Arun Kapil will be joined by Newstalk’s Dr Ciara Kelly, broadcaster and journalist Lorraine Keane, former international rugby legends Shane Byrne and Fergus McFadden and FM104 presenter of The Juice, Sean Munsanje.
Assisted by a group of eminent local chefs including Jérôme Fernandes from The Guinea Pig, Ronald Curman from Bubbas, and Marian Minut from Benito’s, it is expected that over 6,000kg of lobster will be served over the weekend.
“We are thrilled to be in a position to bring back our beloved Lobster Festival this summer,” said veteran restauranteur, Padraic Hanley of Bubba’s Fish Market.
“It really is a labour of love for so many of us but when we see generations of families coming back together, year after year, it makes it all worthwhile,” he says.
“The festival is all about community and having fun and it really is a fantastic opportunity to remind people of all that is available in Dalkey.”
Hanley, along with several other local traders, founded the Dalkey Lobster Festival over ten years ago and is the chair of this year’s organising committee.
Breast Cancer Ireland is the charity partner for this year’s festival with many of its ambassadors and friends getting ready to play their part in galvanising the local community and help raise much needed funds.
