SDCC completes upgrade works at Templeogue Village

As part of a county-wide villages initiative, South Dublin County Council has completed upgrade works to Templeogue Village.

The enhancement works include a new village car park of 38 spaces, provision of e-charging infrastructure, an upgrade of the village’s drainage network and the planting of new trees.

“The upgrade to the area will greatly improve the general aesthetic of the village, provide some additional amenity areas for the local community with better permeability and improve the overall safety of road users, in particular, cyclists and pedestrians,” the council says.

“The upgrade works were designed with significant input from local businesses, residents and elected members of the Council and were carried out by Bretland Construction.”

South Dublin County Council has carried out various Village and District Enhancement Schemes in the last number of years, in an effort to make local areas more liveable, sustainable and attractive for residents, businesses and visitors alike.

The promotion of more sustainable modes of transport that link more consolidated urban areas together is central to the core strategy of the County Development Plan.

Speaking at the official opening of the upgraded Templeogue Village, the Deputy Mayor of South Dublin County, Councillor Laura Donaghy, said: “I am delighted to be here today in Templeogue Village to see the fantastic work that has been carried out to make an already great village even better.

“I want to thank local residents and businesses for their input into this scheme and I am sure that the improvements to the village will benefit residents and visitors alike.”
