Lidl Ireland to re-open Whitestown Way store after €11 Investment

Padraig Conlon 27 May 2022

After much anticipation, Lidl Ireland has announced the re-opening of its brand-new store in Whitestown Way, Dublin, next Thursday, June 2.

An investment of €11 million by the retailer will see the new state-of-the-art store ensure that the Tallaght community continue to have access to Lidl’s renowned range of top-quality products at market leading prices through its four stores, in addition to the more than 450 strong workforce employed across the retailers four stores and Dublin Head Office in Tallaght.

When doors open on the 2nd June, customers will be invited in to experience the new, spacious layout featuring high ceilings and wide aisles.

In addition to an improved shop floor and layout, the store will provide increased natural light for customers and employees alike, LED lighting throughout and an energy efficient heating system with heat recovery.

In line with Lidl’s community-focused objectives under its “A Better Tomorrow” Corporate Social Responsibility programme, and to mark the store re-opening, the store team at Lidl Whitestown Way have chosen the local charity, HOPE – Suicide Prevention Drop-In Centre, located in Tallaght, to benefit from a €1,000 donation that will be presented on the day.

A Lidl store doesn’t just bring better value shopping to an area – it means more fundraising for Ladies Gaelic Football clubs and schools in the area.

When the store re-opens, Lidl hope to increase funding for the local team and schools in the area, additional charity groups supported with FoodCloud donations and more funding for youth mental health through Lidl Ireland’s charity partner Jigsaw.

Store Manager, Derek Kavanagh, commented on the announcement:

“We are delighted to re-open the store to the community this Thursday 2nd June.

“The team have been working very hard behind the scenes to get the store back up and running and we look forward to our loyal customers seeing our new look store, enjoy the new features and experience the same great value they are used to.

“We’re also looking forward to welcoming new shoppers through our doors in the coming weeks and months and we hope to make a positive impact on this thriving community in the years to come.”

Lidl Whitestown Way store will be open daily: Monday – Saturday 8:00am – 10:00pm, and Sunday 9.00am – 9:00pm from Thursday 2nd June at 8:00am.
