Irish Water continues with works to upgrade and improve the sewer network in Ballycullen and Scholarstown in south Dublin.
The delivery of this important wastewater project will support existing and future growth, the water authority says.
In a statement, Irish Water said: “To facilitate the safe delivery of the works, traffic management in the form of a Stop/Go system will be required along Scholarstown Road between the Orlagh Grove and Templeroan Road junctions at entrance to Woodfield Estate.
“To reduce the impact on commuters and the local community, the works will take place over three weekends beginning this weekend on Saturday 26 and Sunday the 27 March from 7am until 11pm.
“Local and emergency access will be maintained at all times and impacted residents will be notified directly.”
Commenting on the project, Padraig Hanly, Irish Water said, “A sewer network that is fit for purpose is essential in order to support business and social development in the community.
“These continued works on Scholarstown Road will support existing and future residential and commercial development while also improving the overall performance of the sewer network.
“Irish Water and South Dublin County Council regret any inconvenience these necessary improvement works may cause and thank the local community for their continued support and co-operation.”
The works involve the construction of 1.8km of new sewers along Stocking Well Row, Scholarstown Road, Templeroan Road, Knocklyon Road, Firhouse Road and Ballycragh Park.
The project is progressing well with over 1km of new sewer pipeline already constructed along Templeroan Road, Coolamber Park and through a private residential development off the Scholarstown Road.
The project is being delivered by GMC Utilities Group on behalf of Irish Water.
