304 new homes in Cherrywood on the way following planning approval

Dun Laoghaire County Council has granted planning permission for 168 new homes in Cherrywood Village development in South Dublin.

Developer Quintain Ireland says it now intends to commence construction on these homes and a previously approved phase of 136 homes once the public health restrictions on construction activity are eased.

The 304 new homes will be in a neighbourhood called Cherry Lane, close to Tully Park and Ticknick Park, and within five minutes’ walk of Laughanstown LUAS station.

Despite the lockdown prospective homeowners have been able to organise virtual tours of Cherrywood Village.

According to the developer these have proved ‘amazingly popular’ with over 5,000 registrations of interest to date, and are a sign of the pent-up demand there is for accommodation.

Quintain say they plan to deliver a total of 1,300 new homes at Cherrywood Village by 2025, and to complete this phase by the middle of 2023, with the first launch of homes for sale expected in Autumn of this year.

Cherry Lane will comprise a mixture of 167 houses, 36 apartments and 101 duplexes, and has a gross development value of c.€150m.

Cherrywood Village aspires to be the most connected village in Ireland, and is located on a 65-acre site within the Cherrywood Strategic Development Zone (SDZ).

It includes 27 acres of green space, and over 4,300m² of retail and civic amenities. It is also located close to major employers like Vodafone and Microsoft in Sandyford, and Dell and Elavon in Cherrywood Science and Technology Park.

Cherrywood Educate Together National School, adjacent to Tully Park, opened at the beginning of this school year, and a secondary school will open in September 2021.

Quintain have also recently announced plans to begin construction of over 700 homes in Adamstown, as part of their plans to deliver over 9,000 homes around the greater Dublin area.
