DLR launches public surveys on future of Dun Laoghaire town and harbour

Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has launched a public consultation survey on Dun Laoghaire town and Dun Laoghaire Harbour.

In a statement, the council says it wants to “hear what the public, business owners and anyone who has an interest in the area want to say about any future developments of Dún Laoghaire Harbour and Dún Laoghaire town.”

There are three surveys which are available to completed online.

These are based on business in the area (aimed at business owners generally), town and harbour development generally (general public), and harbour specifically (general public).

In the statement, the council says: “Dún Laoghaire Harbour came into the ownership of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council in October 2018.

“This has been a positive development for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County.

“Dún Laoghaire Harbour and Dun Laoghaire town have, for many years, been perceived as two separate entities.

“The aim of the studies is to set out a clear and coherent vision to assist the ongoing development and strategic planning of both Dún Laoghaire Harbour and Dún Laoghaire Town given the synergies and interdependencies between both.”

Speaking of the launch of the survey, An Cathaoirleach Cllr Una Power said: “These surveys are a very important part of engaging with people in general, business owners and those who have interests in the area.

“I would really encourage everyone to take part. Your ideas and aspirations will help inform how future plans for the area are framed and developed.”

To inform the future development of the town and harbour, a number of studies are being undertaken by the Council in association with KPMG and Indecon.

Access to the surveys can be found on the Councils Consultation Hub at https://dlrcoco.citizenspace.com/communications-team/public-consultation-on-economic-plan-for-d-n-laogh/ and the closing date for submissions is 28 February 2021.
