Sinn Féin have today co-opted Derren Ó Bradaigh onto South Dublin County Council for the North Clondalkin-Palmerstown-Fonthill LEA.

The co-option was required following the resignation of Lisa Kinsella Colman for health reasons.

In a statement Ó Bradaigh said: “It is a real honour to have been nominated by party colleagues to replace Lisa Kinsella Colman as a Councillor for the North Clondalkin-Palmerstown-Fonthill LEA.

“Lisa was and continues to be a community activist.

During her time on the council she worked tirelessly for the local community. I have no doubt she will continue to do that through her involvement in a variety of community initiatives.

“I wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to working with her in the future.”

Ó Bradaigh said that Sinn Fein has a strong record the locale campaigning for “investment in much needed community services, social and affordable housing and for social justice.

“I look forward to working with the Sinn Féin team to further these objectives.”

Ó Bradaigh, a Lucan native, says he is also “keen to advance the conversation on Irish Unity within the council chamber.”

Ó Bradaigh previously worked as a taxi driver and unsuccessful candidate in the 2019 local elections.
