Laya Healthcare announces new jobs for Dublin

LAYA Healthcare has announced a major multi-million-euro plan to create a nationwide network of Health and Wellbeing Clinics in Ireland, creating 80 new jobs across different regions.

The first Health and Wellbeing Clinic will open in Cherrywood in December, with a Galway Clinic due to open in early January 2020. This will be followed by Limerick next summer. Two more Clinics will open by 2022 with locations to be confirmed.

The new jobs will be created in phases with 45 created in the initial roll-out of three clinics in Cherrywood, Briarhill in Galway, and Limerick in the coming months

A further 35 new jobs will be created with the addition of two more clinics by 2022.

Laya Health and Wellbeing Clinics will be open and accessible to everyone, meaning that those with health insurance and those without can access the network of clinics for their urgent care needs.

Speaking at the launch of its new network, Dónal Clancy, Managing Director of laya healthcare, said: “Ensuring our members can access healthcare at the lowest level of complexity that promotes the best medical outcome for their needs is the reason why we’re creating our own nationwide network of laya Health and Wellbeing Clinics.

“In the short-term, we expect our laya Health and Wellbeing Clinics will quickly relieve some of the pressure in acute hospital settings and allow people to be seen more quickly 365 days a year.

“While providing urgent care is a key offering, our clinics will be equally focused on the areas of preventative health and wellbeing, with screening services and experts in place to focus on health promotion, health protection and disease prevention that support our members’ physical, social and mental wellbeing.

The laya Health and Wellbeing Clinics will directly support the Government’s Sláintecare strategy, which aims to deliver more non-complex healthcare in the community.

Laya healthcare is partnering with MyMedical.

Dr Martin Rochford, a Consultant in Emergency Medicine has been appointed as Medical Director.
