A PREVIOUS Southside finalist in the Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards 2020 has helped launch this year's awards.

One of the largest youth recognition programmes in the country, the awards aim to give young people from across Ireland a voice who are making their communities a better place to live while inspiring others to take action.

Benat Broderick, from Blackrock, a student at Stepaside Educate Together Secondary School, volunteers with Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and helps with their fundraising activities such as 65 Roses Day, the National Fundraising Day for Cystic Fibrosis.

Benat lives with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and has always been eager to support others with the illness. He used his voice to educate the public and began speaking out on social media to discuss the illness and its challenges.

“Since joining Stepaside Educate Together Secondary School (ETSS) in September 2017, Benat has impressed us all with his advocacy and social action in supporting the Cystic Fibrosis community in Ireland and abroad,” says Barbara Mulhall, Principal.

The top 20 honourees each receive €500 with two finalists winning €1,000 for their preferred charity.
