Birchalls golfers tee-off for hospice
Dublin People 21 Sep 2019
AT the start of 2019 the committee of Birchalls Golf Society got together and decided to pool the resources of all the members with the goal of organising a fundraising event for a worthwhile cause.

With the full support of Brendan Birchall, who is the owner of Birchalls public house and the patron of the Golf Society, Our Lady’s Hospice in Harold’s Cross was the chosen charity.
The society felt that this was an opportunity to give a little bit back to an organisation that has been a part of all of their lives in the community at some stage, through family members or friends.
“We saw this as a chance to give some recognition to the hospice and to let them know that they are really appreciated,” they said in a statement.
“We decided to host a Golf Classic to be held in Citywest Golf Resort.
Tom in the Pro Shop in Citywest could not have been more helpful and has accommodated all of our requests for the day and we would like to thank him for his efforts.
“We would also like to thank all of the businesses and individuals from the local community and from afar who have found it in their hearts to contribute in the form of sponsorship towards the event.
“Finally, we would like to thank the 130 serious and not so serious golfers who took time out of their busy schedules to play.
“It’s a little reminder to us all that if we pool our efforts there is nothing that cannot be achieved.
The day was a huge success and we raised €7,000 for the hospice.”
