City’s pet festival promises a lot of fun

IRELAND’S biggest summer festival, the Laya Healthcare’s City Spectacular, has announced the return of its official charity partner for the 4th year running as the Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA).
Pet-acular with DSPCA and Purina will present its most ambitious festival programme yet designed to engage, enthral and entertain the dog lovers of Dublin.
Festival Director Shell Holden, said the annual event is a celebration of all things canine, and one of the most popular and busy zones at both Dublin and Cork festivals.
DSPCA’s Fundraising & Events Coordinator Natasha Eames, added: “Each year Pet-acular is getting bigger and better. We love meeting lots of fabulous dogs with their wonderful owners. It is a day not to be missed, and is great fun for the whole family, especially the furry friend in your life.”
Mutt and man will enjoy doggy delights such as the DSPCA Scruffs dog show, dog training and agility demos with the DSPCA Dog Training Academy, a doggie deli and some Pet-acular surprises from Purina.
The DSPCA Village Vets will also be talking to festivalgoers about pet health advice. Dog lovers can treat their cuddly companions with personalised dog beds and blankets and even star in their own photoshoot with their pooch at Wetnose Studios. The customs dogs will also be giving a demonstration in the Pet-acular show ring.
Lovers of four-legged furry friends will have the opportunity to meet dogs who are looking for forever homes in the DSPCA Doggy Adoption Parade.
Purina will also be on hand at Pet-acular with a relaxation tent for all the family to take time out of the busy festival atmosphere.
It all takes place on July 13 and 14 in Merrion Square, and on July 20 and 21 in Fitzgerald Park, in Cork.
