Rathgar Tennis Club open day
Dublin People 08 Jun 2019
RATHGAR Tennis Club is holding an open day on Sunday, June 16, with special on the day only membership offers, games, fun, food, prizes, exhibition matches and more.

A junior focused event will take place from 2-4pm, with an adult session following from 4-5pm.
Rathgar Tennis club was formed in the spring of 1985, initially utilising five public tarmacadam courts and portacabin at ‘The Quarry’ park, off Orwell. As the existing facility was underused and neglected, Dublin City Council approached local residents and mooted the idea of a community-based tennis club.
From these small beginnings through a series of development programmes over the next 34 years, Rathgar Tennis Club, supported by Dublin City Council, grew in members and developed improved sporting facilities.
Today, it is home to 10 floodlit all-weather courts, overlooked by a fine two storey clubhouse and adjacent practice wall.
The club offers an extensive junior programme led by coach Jamie Pilkington and his team.
For older members, there are many social events throughout the year while more competitive players can participate in one of the many teams entered into Dublin Lawn Tennis Club leagues, backed by a wide-ranging adult programme led by head coach Kieran Galvin.
