Jamie’s Italian Dundrum unaffected by UK closures

RESTAURATEUR and the franchise holder of Jamie’s Italian Dundrum has reassured the public that the Southside outlet is unaffected by closures in the UK.

Last week it emerged that the British celebrity chef’s restaurant chain went into administration with over 1,300 jobs at risk.

Oliver (43) a well-known figure for his popular TV shows and top-selling cookery books, founded his Jamie’s Italian brand of high street restaurants in 2008. 

However, Jamie’s Italian in Dundrum in Dublin is completely unaffected as the restaurant which is located in Dundrum is a franchise and completely separate from the UK.

Jamie’s Italian in Dundrum is one of 61 overseas Jamie’s Italian International Limited outlets run by franchises that are unaffected by the administration.

Restaurateur Gerry Fitzpatrick said: “We are saddened by the news of our UK colleagues but I want to assure all our loyal customers that we will continue to work with local suppliers and serve great food, the Jamie Oliver way.

“Jamie’s Italian Dundrum is a very healthy, profitable business, which is completely independent of the UK.”

Jamie Oliver said: “Gerry and his team have really embraced what we are all about.

“They are a longstanding partner who share our absolute passion for food and have long been a shining example for using the very best local produce Ireland has to offer.

“We are so pleased they are expanding in this great market. However sad today’s news is for the UK restaurant business, we are looking forward to continuing this great partnership in Ireland.”

Gerry said that Jamie’s Italian Dundrum has launched many new family orientated initiates recently which included ‘kids eat half price’ during school holidays, a competition with the movie ‘Wonderpark’ and also launched the new ‘Super Lunch’ set lunch menu is aimed at busy people in the South Dublin area who have limited time to grab good food on their lunch break.

“Jamie’s Italian Dundrum teamed up with Just Eat to ensure customers get the Italian classic 2-course meal delivered to their office door, saving customers time in order to enjoy their lunch break,” they added in a statement.

“Jamie’s Italian Dundrum is a great location for family events, client entertainment and work events, with beautiful flexible spaces which are perfect for that special event.”
