Fashionable launch for new Barnardos
Dublin People 27 Oct 2018
FASHION stylist, Cathy O’Connor, attended the launch of the new Barnardos children’s charity shop in Dalkey last week.
Cathy was on hand to cut the red tape on the brand-new charity shop which is the ninth addition to the charity’s network of outlets.
All proceeds made from the Dalkey shop will go back into the work Barnardos does in their 40 centres throughout Ireland. Barnardos shop customers help to make an important contribution to the work Barnardos does with vulnerable children across the country.
Barnardos Retail Operations and Development Manager, Colette Miller, said: “Our new charity shop in Dalkey is a real treasure trove for customers.
“In our Dalkey shop customers will find designer items and pre-loved ladies’, men’s and children’s clothing.
“You will also find some great homeware, the odd antique and brand-new items donated directly by wholesalers. Our move to Dalkey has been an overwhelmingly positive experience and the community and our neighbours have really welcomed us since our doors first opened in mid-August,” Ms Miller added: “This support is instrumental to the work Barnardos does with children and families in communities across the country.”
For anyone who would like to donate, simply bring your items to the Barnardos Shop Dalkey at 1 Blue Court, Convent Road, Dalkey. You can also find the locations for all Barnardos shops at www.barnardos.ie/retail.
The charity has shops in Dublin, Carlow, Wexford and Cork. Two shops also have boutique bridal stores, stocking only brand-new gowns, in Dun Laoghaire and Wexford. Each of the gowns are donated brand-new by top Irish designers and retailers.
Barnardos shops are instrumental to the work the charity does with children and families across Ireland.
The charity’s direct work with children helps build their resilience by focusing on their social, emotional, physical and educational development.
Barnardos also helps parents strengthen their parenting skills, improve their relationship with their child and help them to meet their child’s needs.
They also provide services before, during and after school to support children in their social development.
