Recruitment drive brings 154 new jobs to Dublin
Dublin People 14 Jul 2018
A NEW recruitment drive by professional services firm EY will bring 145 new jobs to Dublin, it emerged last week.
The announcement of the new jobs for Dublin by international firm EY is extremely positive, Deputy Kate O’Connell said.
“Today’s 520 new jobs have been announced for Ireland with 145 of them to be based in the company’s two Dublin offices in the Harcourt Street area,” Deputy O’Connell said. “The remaining roles will be spread across EY’s other five Irish offices – Belfast, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford.
“These are decent jobs, with EY saying salaries for experienced hires averaging upwards of €65,000 per annum. The roles are available in a variety of areas including Data Analytics; IT Advisory and Transformation; Risk; Cyber; Digital Strategy and Customer Experience.
“Ireland’s enterprise based economy is creating over 1,000 jobs a week, jobs just like these ones announced today.
“All of the jobs lost in the devastating economic crash have now thankfully been restored.”
Deputy O’Connell pointed out that unemployment is now down to 5.1 per cent nationally, with a record 2.2 million plus people now at work in the State.
“This is more people at work in Ireland than ever before,” she added. “The numbers of people on the Live Register in Dublin has fallen by 47 per cent since the Government launched its Action Plan for Jobs in early 2012.
“As Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said today, it is great to see EY continuing its commitment to graduate employment with these new career opportunities for college leavers here in Ireland. Employment announcements like the one today serve to copper-fasten our reputation as a leading country for top talent and investment and help to attract more international companies to Ireland.”
Meanwhile, three early-stage start-ups have become the latest companies to join the community of entrepreneurs at University College Dublin’s (UCD) Centre for New Ventures and Entrepreneurs.
Over 25 companies, employing some 200 people, are currently located at NovaUCD.
The three companies, EPIC Conjoint, This is Seaweed and Travacoin, have located to NovaUCD in order to collaborate with and benefit from engagement with the University. Between them the three companies are planning to create up to 30 new jobs and raise up to €7.5 million in funding over the next two years.
To date NovaUCD has supported the launch of over 200 successful high-tech companies which have attracted over €200 million in equity investment.
