Walk on for Cabinteely
Dublin People 06 Jan 2018
A FREE public walk on January 13 is encouraging Southsiders to get fit as part of Operation Transformation.

If you are looking for something to get you on the road to a healthy and active 2018, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnership has the perfect event for you.
As part of their bid to encourage everyone in the County to get active, the free 4km public walk will be held on January 13 in Cabinteely Park at 11am (registration from 10.30am).
This event is being held in conjunction with Sport Ireland and RTE’s Operation Transformation TV programme.
On this day every county in Ireland will have a similar walking event to cater for all levels of fitness, but in particular for those looking to start exercising again.
Meeting from 10.30am beside the main house in Cabinteely Park, the 4km route will bring participants around this picturesque park, on pathways that are suitable for all walkers.
Supported by Sport Ireland and Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, this event will provide the perfect chance to put those New Year’s resolutions into action.
Speaking in advance of the event, Shane McArdle, Coordinator with the Sports Partnership, stated: “For heart health adults need at least 30 minutes of physical activity, such as brisk walking, five days a week.
“By taking part in these types of local events, people can become more aware of the excellent walking routes in the county and how it can be made social and fun.”
Providing the perfect chance to put those New Year’s resolutions into action, all are very welcome and encouraged to attend.
Trained walking leaders will be present on the day to offer a helping hand and there will be a complimentary hot cuppa at the finish line for all.
