It’s three in a row for Rockford Manor girls’ team
Dublin People 28 Dec 2017
PICTURED is the Rockford Manor girls’ team who have got to three All-Ireland finals in the last three years in a row.
This team started off in 2013 playing junior volleyball (Spikeball). They were the first volleyball team in Rockford and they eventually reached the National Spikeball final.
The girls had just set a precedence of success for later years.
In 2015 they went on to reach an All-Ireland final at Cadette level, but were unlucky to lose.
The girls worked hard and learned from this defeat to go on and win the Senior C All-Ireland volleyball final in 2016.
In 2017, on Wednesday, December 13, the girls got to another All-Ireland final, against Ennis in the Senior B Competition (a division higher) and were unlucky to lose.
However, to have reached three All-Ireland finals in a row is a massive achievement for a school that only started volleyball five years ago.
A lot of hard work goes into volleyball at Rockford to achieve this success. Training sessions take place before and after school.
Rockford Manor is a strong believer in working with the community. The school collaborates with Dalkey Devils Ladies’ team to develop young players.
Many Rockford Manor students go on to play with the Dalkey Devils.
This benefits the school team and our community team.
