THE supermarket operator Aldi has agreed to become a major tenant in the refurbished and extended Frascati Shopping Centre, one of the most iconic shopping destinations on the Southside.

Aldi joins existing anchor tenants Marks and Spencer and Debenhams in a bid to provide a catalyst to introduce new tenants into the centre.

The centre itself will almost double in size between now and the end of 2018 and is already attracting interest from national and international names.

The agreement was announced by Invesco Real Estate and Burlington Real Estate.

According to John Bruder of Burlington Real Estate:

“We are thrilled that Aldi is our first agreed new tenant.

“The transformed Frascati Shopping Centre will offer huge variety and quality. It is set to become the leading shopping destination in one of the country’s most affluent areas.

The refurbishment and extension works which are currently underway will increase the size of the Frascati Shopping Centre from 100,000 sq ft to 170,000 sq ft.

“It will add 23 new retail units and five new food and beverage units in a dedicated restaurant location with spectacular views over Dublin Bay.

A major car park extension will provide a total of 550 spaces, and improved access to Frascati Road will further enhance the shopping experience in this location.

“When complete the new Frascati will be a landmark on one of the most important routes connecting the city centre with its south-eastern suburbs,

? Mr Bruder added.

Aldi confirmed the new outlet would be one of its new concept stores which feature its latest layout and design.
