Kilmacud Crokes GAA Club scores major funding boost
Dublin People 20 May 2017ICONIC Stillorgan GAA Club, Kilmacud Crokes, has scored a major funding boost thanks to the hard-working staff of Intel.
The tech giant recently celebrated the success of its 2016 Matching Grant initiative that rewarded 124 community organisations and schools from across Ireland with a total of €502,378.
Some 31 organisations from the Dublin area were part of the scheme and will receive funding of more than €130,000.
The Intel Involved Matching Grant Programme encourages employees to engage in outreach and volunteerism in their communities by giving their time and talent to qualified non–profit organisations and schools.
For every hour that is volunteered by an Intel employee at a school or qualified non–profit organisation, a donation or “match” of $10 (US) is paid from the Intel Foundation.
In 2016 Intel employees volunteered just over 54,000 hours that were eligible to be matched through this initiative, resulting in a pay out of €502,378 ($547,215) for 124 recipient organisations spread across 20 different counties in Ireland.
Employees were recognised for these efforts at a special event held at the Intel campus in Leixlip which was attended by the Mayor of Kildare Ivan Keatley along with representatives from each of the recipient organisations.
Among the 124 organisations that were part of the Matching Grant initiative were charities such as Irish Dogs for the Disabled, the Parkinson’s Association of Ireland and the Society of the Vincent De Paul.
A variety of sporting clubs including the Kilmacud Crokes were also in the running for a funding boost.
It has been a busy few weeks for the Southside club with recent wins including that of the Intermediate Footballers who beat Round Towers Lusk in their Championship game.
It’s also coming up to that time of the year when the club hosts the much-loved Mini All-Ireland tournaments in the month of June.
Online entry is now open and available on the club’s website at www.KilmacudCrokes.com.
Numbers participating at some age groups will be capped and entries will be accepted on a first come/first served basis.
Meanwhile, the Kilmacud Crokes Ladies Football Quiz Night will take place on Friday, May 26 at 8pm in the club house.
The quiz will be followed by a few drinks and a bit of music and craic among friends.
Teams of four to five adults (over 16 years of age) are €10 a head to attend.
There will also be a raffle of superb prizes on the night.
