DUBLIN radio station 98FM is to reveal the winners this week in their annual Best Of Dublin search.

From the Best Taxi Driver to Best Barber, the Best of Dublin awards celebrate all that’s great in our capital city.

Back for the fourth edition, listeners have been nominating their favourite hidden gems in people and businesses in recent weeks.

According to the station, this year’s awards received the largest number of votes in the campaign’s history.

Across 16 categories the campaign received a staggering 789,000 votes from Dubliners, a 50 per cent increase on last year’s figures.

Award categories cover all the best services Dublin has to offer, including local legends, favourite food and drink venues and even your best bus driver.

This year’s finalists include local community heroes like 30-year-old Joe Mooney who set up the Raheny Community First Responder group as well as high profile Dubliners such as Dublin GAA star Philly McMahon and Mrs Brown’s Boys star Brendan O’Carroll

A new addition for 2017 is the Dublin Hero category, celebrating emergency personnel in the community.

This category aims to celebrate the people who selflessly go above and beyond to protect the residents, communities and all the people who frequent and enjoy Dublin on a daily basis.

Winners of last year’s awards include Pippa O’Connor, Becky Lynch and San Lorenzos.

Speaking about the awards, 98FM presenter Adrian Kennedy said: “Every year we look forward to these awards. Not only is it a great night but it’s a chance to celebrate the people that make Dublin so special.

“Each award celebrates the businesses and people that go above and beyond and make Dublin one of the best cities in the world. We love seeing the passion people have for Dublin and the awards are a great opportunity for 98FM and Dubliners to say thank you.”

Finalists have been invited to the awards ceremony in the RDS on May 23 for a celebration of this year’s Best Of Dublin winners.
