Drimnagh delighted with its new all-weather pitch

THE Lord Mayor of Dublin, Brendan Carr, officially cut the red tape on a new all-weather pitch in Dublin City Council’s Brickfield Park, Drimnagh, last week.
The floodlit, full sized, all-weather pitch, which cost €460,000, will be a welcome addition to this popular park that also includes a playground and extensive tree planting.
Local football clubs including St John Bosco FC, Benbulbin United, Drimnagh Celtic, Earl Celtic, Galty Celtic and Mourne Celtic that currently use the park will be able to avail of the new facility.
A plaque on a bench dedicated to the memory of John O’Halloran of St John Bosco Football Club, who was instrumental in the campaign for the development of a full size all-weather pitch in Brickfield Park, has also been installed. Unfortunately, John passed away before he could see his dream become a reality.
The Lord Mayor said: “I am delighted to be here to open this new facility and congratulate all those involved in bringing it to fruition. I’m sure it will prove to be an invaluable asset to the teams in the area and I wish them every success in their new home.”
