Cycling challenge takes on suicide
Dublin People 29 Apr 2017AN INTREPID group of cyclists will gather at Brady’s pub in Shankill later this month ahead of a return trip south to Arklow in a popular challenge aimed at raising funds and awareness for suicide prevention.
On Saturday, May 27 dozens of cyclists will gather at the Southside watering hole ahead of the 120km return journey.
They want you to join them and there is also a shorter 30-40km route option to Kilpeddar for those who prefer a shorter challenge.
The day starts at 9am and funds raised over the challenge will allow Suicide or Survive, a Shankill-based national mental health charity, to continue to deliver its innovative and life-changing programmes throughout the country.
This is the third year of the cycle which is continuing to grow in popularity.
Cyclists will be welcomed by the team at Brady’s pub in Shankill for a free evening BBQ, live DJ and fun late into the evening.
“We’re absolutely buzzing about this year’s event and we are hugely grateful to all who support us,” said Suicide or Survive founder Caroline McGuigan.
“Last year was a huge success and was a real community gathering that supports the essential work of Suicide or Survive and allows the conversation to continue.
“People from all walks of life get involved which is fantastic. We are asking people to sign up, get involved and to contact us if they want more information.”
There is an early bird registration rate of €20 before May 13. Registration increases to €30 after this date.
