Calm after Storm Doris
Dublin People 26 Feb 2017
A CRESCENT moon is pictured in the calm dawn sky over the Forty Foot at Sandycove (above) just hours after Storm Doris wreaked havoc across the country.
Thousands of homes were left without electricity as the storm ripped across Ireland last week.
Over 4,000 ESB customers, including some in parts of the capital, were cut off as the storm raged.
In the east, ESB Powercheck reported major outages in Lucan and Celbridge that left over 2,500 homes and businesses without power.
Along the coast there were other power outages from Balbriggan to Bray.
However, ESB crews were out early on Thursday morning to restore power as quickly as possible.
Downed trees also caused major commuting headaches, especially towards Dublin, with AA Roadwatch reporting problems across Kildare, Meath and Laois.
The stormy weather across Ireland and the UK also caused the cancellation of several flights.
A total of 12 Aer Lingus flights were cancelled while others were delayed.
Photographer John Coveney’s pictures show some of the disruption across the Southside.
