More good news on the jobs front
Dublin People 16 Dec 2016
THERE has been yet more good news on the jobs front for the Southside.

Following on from last week’s story (‘Dozens of new jobs for the Southside’) it has emerged that yet more new jobs are on the way.
Deputy Josepha Madigan (FG) has said that the official opening of SIRO’s new offices in Carrickmines, and the creation of 60 new jobs by the company, is a great boost for the area.
“My colleague, the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’Connor officially opened SIRO’s new offices in Carrickmines recently,” Deputy Madigan stated.
“The company has created 60 new jobs over the past 12 months and will now employ 120 people, as it ramps up the construction of Ireland’s first 100 per cent fibre-optic broadband network to 500,000 premises in 50 towns nationwide.
“I’m delighted to see SIRO double their headcount to 120 and congratulate the company on their ambition and expansion plans for the future.”
Deputy Madigan added: “SIRO has also announced that it will invest €150 million in its network rollout in 2017, which will support 400 subcontractors working on the project around Ireland.
“Broadband connectivity is hugely important to the Irish economy, in terms of job creation and enabling Irish companies to compete online. It is great to see a local company play such a key role in this important area.”
Meanwhile, work is well underway on the construction of a new McDonald’s Drive-Thru restaurant in Citywest.
McDonald’s has created 65 new full-time positions as part of this €3.5 million investment, as well as an additional 60 construction roles during the building phase.
Due to open its doors this month, McDonald’s Citywest will bring the total number of McDonald’s restaurants in operation across Ireland to 91.
A total of 150 diners can be accommodated over two floors at any one time with the option for customers to purchase food using self-order kiosks if preferred.
The restaurant will also have Samsung Galaxy tablets to keep diners informed and entertained, as well as a children’s play area.
McDonald’s Owner Operator, Amir Afsar, said: “We are very much looking forward to opening our doors to the public in Citywest and serving a large community of business and residential customers in the locality.
“I think diners will really enjoy the technology we have installed in the restaurant, including self-order kiosks and tablet computers, as well as our new kitchens where food is cooked to order as soon as customers make their decision.”
McDonald’s Ireland MD Adrian Crean added: “McDonald’s is proud to create another 65 Irish jobs with the opening of our 91st restaurant in Citywest. This brings our workforce in Ireland to over 5,000 people.”
“We are also committed to delivering great experiences for all our customers in both the terms of the food we serve and the atmosphere in which we operate.”
Among the jobs detailed in last week’s story were the 200 created by Enterpryze at its headquarters in Cherrywood.
